FAQ

What affects how good the repair looks in the end?

A few things can play a role in how clean or clear a chip looks after the repair:1. How big or deep the original damage was
2. How long the chip’s been sitting there
3. Whether any dirt, water, or cleaning products got into it over time
The sooner you get a chip fixed, the better it will turns out and the more likely you are to avoid a full windshield replacement later on. If a chip has been sitting there for a while, it may need to get replaced.

Will the chip completely disappear after the repair?

In most cases, the chip becomes a lot less noticeable - usually around 70% to 90% clearer. You might still see a faint mark, like a small scar. The real win is that the repair helps keep the damage from spreading and restores the strength of your windshield. So it’s more about safety and prevention than making it look brand new.

What types of damage can be repaired?

Most rock chips smaller than a quarter can be repaired without a problem. If there’s a short crack (a few inches long) extending from the chip, that may still be fixable too - it really depends on the size, location, and how far it’s spread. That said, damage that goes all the way through the glass (and can be felt from inside the car), is directly in front of the driver's point of view, etc., usually can’t be safely repaired.

Is there anything I should do before the repair appointment?

Just try to keep the windshield dry, no need to wash it beforehand. If it’s a hot day, parking in the shade can help a bit, but it’s not a must. I may need quick access to the inside of the vehicle during the repair, so just have the keys handy. That’s it. I’ll handle the rest!
